ABOUT 29DIED

Formed in 1994 in Thousand Oaks, CA, 29 Died was the industrial dance/rock brainchild of high school graduates David Ciemny and David Stowater. Inspired by bands like Front 242 and Depeche Mode, they sought to create a powerful, synthesizer-driven sound. Their break came when lead singer Ciemny met Grammy-winning producer Richard Dashut, who signed them to his independent record label, leading to their debut album "Sworn" in 1995. Despite charting successes and a rigorous touring schedule alongside prominent acts, the band experienced a sudden turn of fate when Dashut's label folded in 1997.

Securing a 4-song demo deal with Delicious Vinyl records, they released their sophomore album "In Vein", featuring a standout cover of "Shout" by Tears for Fears. But just three weeks into their tour supporting "In Vein," 29 Died disbanded following their final show at Area 51 in Salt Lake City, missing out on a slot at the 1999 Woodstock festival. Post-disbandment, Stowater and Ciemny continued their musical journeys through new projects, influencing the music industry in their own ways.
